Imposter syndrome in the special abilities jungle
Before Harry came along I had always thought that, if my child had ‘special abilities’, I would find a team of parents in the same boat
‘Along Came Harry’ is written by Harry’s parents – Matt and Caz. It is independent of the charity, as the views are that not of the Founder of Harry’s Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust but of Harry’s Mummy and Daddy. It documents the journey through the eyes of scared parents who love their precious little boy and who have found themselves thrust into medicalised and often very uncertain world. It details their experiences with Harry’s diagnosis, ongoing treatment and preparations for a future which no one planned and no one has a handy ‘how to’ guide to navigate.
There simply isn’t a Hydrocephlaus for Dummies book- maybe we should suggest one! The blog is also a space for other families to share their stories, either or their own child’s Hydrocephalus journey, or of other journeys where the sharing of a story may in some way help another family.

From day one, my pregnancy with Harry didn’t feel quite right. I bled lots, ended up in hospital at 16 weeks and felt horribly anxious

*Written pre-lockdown Like most of the working well population, when this horrid Coronavirus thing initially started to break the thought of two weeks of self-isolation

When we launched Harry’s Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust – or ‘Harry’s Charity’ as Lewis, Harry’s seven-year-old ‘little, big brother’ calls it – it was all about

My friend recently sent me a brilliantly constructed article from the BMJ, written by Stephanie the ‘Mum’ of a little girl with a life-limiting illness.
