Itv shares the open letter
We are delighted that ITV have shared our open letter to the Health Secretary, Wes Streeting MP, highlighting our call for a review of infant head circumference measurement in the UK. The pieces were shared across many regions and from the feedback we have received we know that they resonated with many viewers.
Open letter to the Secretary of State
On the 22nd July 2024 we sent our Open Letter to the Secretary of State for Health, Wes Streeting MP and also sent copies to members of the Department of Health and Social Care; Andrew Gwynne MP, Karin Smyth MP, Stephen Kinnock MP and Baroness Merron. The letter contained 23 signatures representing paediatric neurosurgeons from every paediatric neurosurgical centre in the UK. The letter called for an urgent review of the infant head circumference guidelines in Britain.
On the 6th of November Health Secretary Wes Streeting MP and the Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP meet with Victoria and Caroline to talk about the campaign. Mr Streeting agreed to seek advice on commissioning a clinical review into infant head circumference measurement in this country. This has the potential to significantly change lives for babies showing signs of hydrocephalus and of course their families too and we will of course keep you updated with our progress.
