At Harry’s HAT we know that bringing up a child with hydrocephalus often comes with extra costs. Our small grants of up to £500 are here to help ease some of that pressure.
These grants are open to children in the UK under the age of 18 who are living with hydrocephalus. The money must be used for something that directly benefits your child and helps make life a little better for them. This is at the heart of our mission. It could be specialist equipment, an activity or support that makes everyday life easier.
Please note that we are very unlikely to fund iPads or holidays, as there are specialist funders who already support families in those areas. We want our grants to go towards things that other charities may not cover but that will still have a real impact on your child’s daily life.
Because our funds are limited we prefer to support specific items or activities where the full cost is clear. Please share links when you apply and only ask for the amount you need.
When you apply it’s really important to explain how hydrocephalus affects your child day to day. The more detail you can give about their needs and your situation, the better. We can only make decisions based on the impact of hydrocephalus itself, so please focus on that as much as you can.
We expect competition to be high and sadly we won’t be able to help every family. If we can’t support you this time, there are other organisations that may be able to help, such as:
You’re also welcome to join our free grant fundraising training, which we run throughout the year. This will give you more insight into applying for funding from different sources and where else you might be able to find support.

We want applying to be as straightforward as possible, without adding too much to your workload. At the same time, the more detail you can provide in your application, the better. This helps us understand your child’s needs and make the fairest decisions we can.
All applications are anonymised before being reviewed by our Grants Panel. We’ll let you know the outcome after the panel meets and may get in touch by email or phone if we need more information.
