Welcoming Jez Hanson as Chair of Trustees and Introducing New Trustee, Faye

We’re delighted to welcome Jez Hanson as the new Chair of Trustees at Harry’s HAT. Jez steps into the role following Harri, who has been a dedicated Trustee since 2020 and has served as Chair for the past two years.

During her time at the helm, Harri has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to lay strong foundations for the charity. She has built the systems and structures needed to help us face the future with confidence. Thanks to her leadership, Harry’s HAT is better equipped to support families now and in the years to come. We are incredibly grateful for her passion, wisdom and unwavering commitment.

We’re also thrilled that Harri will remain part of the Harry’s HAT family. She will continue as a valued volunteer, supporting our fundraising events and bringing her trademark energy and creativity to everything she does.

Jez’s connection to Harry’s HAT is a deeply personal one. His daughter developed hydrocephalus, and it was during this difficult time that his family found support through the charity. As Jez says, “Harry’s HAT was there when my family needed it most.” This experience now drives his commitment to helping others in similar situations.

Jez brings with him a wealth of experience as a business consultant, with particular strengths in strategic planning and operational improvement. He also has valuable experience in the charity sector, having served as a Trustee and Chair of the Finance and Marketing Subcommittees for a Worcestershire-based homelessness charity.

Jez officially takes the reins today (1 August), and we are excited for the journey ahead. With his energy, expertise and personal commitment to our mission, we know Jez will help Harry’s HAT grow stronger and reach even more families affected by hydrocephalus across the UK.

We are also very pleased to introduce Faye, who joined the Board in July 2025. Faye is an experienced board executive who has worked at executive director level across both public and private sectors, in the UK and internationally. She brings deep expertise in compliance, governance, finance and legal matters, all of which are invaluable to her role as a Trustee.

Like many on our board, Faye is also a parent to a child with hydrocephalus. She has first-hand experience of the challenges that come with navigating the condition and the impact it has on the whole family.

Outside of her professional life, Faye describes her home life as “chaotic but joyful.” She lives on a farm with her two daughters (both under 10) and a full set of pets, many of which were enthusiastically promised to be looked after by the children.

With Faye and Jez on board, and Harri continuing as a much-loved volunteer, the Harry’s HAT team is stronger than ever. Together, we remain committed to supporting families, raising awareness and making sure no one faces hydrocephalus alone.

Here’s to the next chapter.
