It’s a JJ World

James is now 3 years old  but he’s no ordinary boy let’s take you back…

James was born 28 weeks, 1.4lb. Day 2 James had a ridiculous amount of complications and a grade 4 bleed that turned into hydrocephalus. James had many taps in ICU as he had such high protein from the blood it was like glue inside his head. A EVT was done with a brain washout looked like pint of Guinness just came out of his head. A VP shunt inserted at 2 months old. We have had three revisions, the first two because he had the high protein it blocked the shunts, the second he fell onto a toy and broke it.

I’m confidant, brave, strong minded when it comes to James, why? Because we’ve been through hell and it made me realise that I am his mum, I know James more than anyone in the world, if I get told I’m wrong I want a second opinion. Not because I don’t believe them, because I believe in my instincts, I’ve been right almost every time. If I have learnt anything is to stand up for what you believe.

There never a silly question, they are all so important. Its ok to cry, shout and scream. It’s also ok to ask for help, research or just stop and take a deep breath. EVERY child is different no two children are the same. Never compare one another, take pride in your child no matter what. Things seem like a black hole but there always a light. I never thought that was possible until now. Hydrocephalus has no cure but it sure doesn’t stop my love or the proud feeling get every time I see my son.
